Intro and Month of the Military Child

April is the month of the military child.  We have 5 of them in our family - his, hers and ours - ranging in age from 5 to 19.  Each of our children are affected by our military lifestyle in different ways.  We move around a lot.  The 5 year old has lived in 5 houses in 4 states in his lifetime - so far.  This is our normal and we embrace it.  Our children tend to adapt well to change since their surroundings are always changing.  We learn to appreciate our time together and spend a good bit of it at Disney.

Here is our little family at Disney, of course, on Thanksgiving Day 2010.

This is one of my favorite pictures of our youngest seeing Dad off to Afghanistan.  I don't think that he understood the word deployment at this point but he sure did miss Daddy during the months he was gone.

While my husband was deployed, I moved the kids down to my old stomping grounds in Orlando.  We threw our stuff into storage at good old Ft Benning and headed to central Florida to rent a vacation home furnished in what I like to call "early Golden Girls".  I wanted to be near my support system of close friends and figured that Disney would be a great distraction.  We spent several days a week in the parks during the summer with groups of wonderful friends.  They were my sanity!

I worked for Disney for years and had hoped to return to the company but due to the kids' health issues and our hectic schedule, that dream seemed out of reach. My sweet friend Jessica told me there was a way to stay home and still be able to get paid to make some Disney magic.  Seems there really is a Fairy Godmother and she owns a travel agency AND was gracious enough to hire me.  Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo and my new career venture was born!  I have booked Disney trips for friends for as long as I can remember.  Why not let the mouse pay me for doing something I love to do?

So, if you have made it this far and you would like to book a trip to anywhere Disney, then let me know.  I've been there, done that and can get you there too (and probably much cheaper than you thought!).
